Key dates for Hospitality owners: Plan your reopening

Hospitality restrictions

Boris Johnson has revealed a roadmap outlining key dates for the exit strategy to get England out of lockdown and back to some form of normality.

This plan is crucial for hospitality owners to prepare for the reopening of their venues and make sure they are ready for the surge in demand once lockdown restrictions are lifted.

A four-stage exit plan is set to be rolled out from the 8th March across England as a national approach rather than the previous tier system we saw late last year, we have listed the key dates below for the hospitality sector to follow and plan their reopening strategy.

8th March - Stage One

On the 8th March, we won’t see any change to hospitality restrictions with only schools opening and just 2 people being allowed to meet outdoors to socialise.

From 29th March, this outdoor socialising extends to the ‘rule of six’ and up to 2 households will be allowed to meet up outdoors.

For hospitality owners, there has never been a better time to get your operations in order, whether that be reviewing your business and introducing new systems, or preparing staff for a new structure to your business prior to reopening.

It’s also the perfect time to have a look into Hopsy, and find out how we can help to streamline your operations, saving you time and money across the board. Book in for a demo, and our customer success manager will take the time to explain how the Hopsy app can specifically help your business.

12 April - Stage Two

As we move into April, not only do we see the reopening of non-essential retail and indoor leisure centres, but finally we will see a welcome return to hospitality in outdoor settings such as beer gardens too.

There will be no curfew on hospitality venues and the necessity for a ‘substantial meal’ with alcohol will also be scrapped.

A great time to start working with the benefits that Hopsy provides. So whether you need new outdoor checklists setup, daily or weekly covid checklists to ensure the safety of your staff and customers we have you covered, or all the paperwork from all your venues shown simply in one clear place, Hopsy has got your back.

17 May - Stage Three

This will be such an important stage for hospitality owners to plan and prepare for, we will see indoor hospitality settings such as pubs, restaurants, hotels and B&Bs able to reopen with social contact rules being increased from the ‘rule of six’ to a limit of 30 people.

Although there will still be a number of social mixing rules in place, we expect to see the hospitality industry trading on numbers close to how they were before covid-19 began, especially with so many people looking forward to restrictions easing.

With high numbers of custom and an increasing number of staff hours, Hopsy allows complete control and oversight from staff management whether that be rotas, staff policies and more, you can ensure your staff are performing to the best of their ability.

21 June - Stage Four

On 21 June we will enter the fourth and final stage for exiting the lockdown, getting back to normality which has been long-awaited.

We will see a return to night-time economy businesses with nightclubs being allowed to reopen after more than a year of closure. With all legal limits of social distancing and mixing being removed at this point.

Hopsy is a great helping hand for hospitality businesses day in and day out - we bring all the daily jobs together for an efficient and paperless workplace, giving complete oversight across multiple venues all in one simple to use the app.
